Svyatohirsk Lavra (or Svyatogorsk Lavra) is situated in Eastern Ukraine (appr. between Kharkiv and Donetsk) near a town of Sviatohirsk (Svyatogorsk in Russian language). The first written mention of this monastery was in beginning of 16-th century. Originally it was a cave monastery. Cave were artificially made inside the white lime rock. The name of the monastery comes from the mountains, where it is situated. Sviatohirsk - it means Holy Mountains.
